Full Description

Your tour begins with a convenient pickup at your accommodation in Lisbon. As we drive through the city, you will hear how Lisbon’s layered history – from Roman settlement and Moorish influences to the era of the maritime empire – shaped its streets, architecture and way of life.

We start in Alfama, one of the oldest and most traditional quarters of Lisbon, known for its maze of narrow streets, tiled façades and the soul of Fado music. From there we continue through the elegant Baixa and Chiado districts, rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake and today filled with historic cafés, wide squares and traditional shops.

The tour then continues towards Belém, the district that symbolises Portugal’s Age of Discoveries. Here you will have time to see some of Lisbon’s most important landmarks from the outside – such as the Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower and the Monument to the Discoveries – and, if you wish, you may choose to visit one of them inside (tickets not included).

This is an ideal introduction to Lisbon: relaxed, informative and flexible. Whether it is your first time in the city or a return visit, you will finish the tour with a clearer sense of Lisbon’s character and the places you may want to explore further.
