Full Description

Your driver picks you up in Lisbon and you cross the Tagus River towards the vast plains of the Alentejo. As the landscape opens, you will see cork oaks, olive trees and vineyards – a very different scenery from the coastal area around Lisbon.

We arrive in the walled city of Évora, whose historic centre is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you will have time to explore landmarks such as the Roman Temple, the Cathedral and picturesque squares with their whitewashed houses.

One of the most intriguing stops is the Chapel of Bones (Capela dos Ossos), decorated with the bones and skulls of thousands of monks. Inside, a famous inscription reminds visitors of the fragility of life – a powerful and thought-provoking experience.

Later, the tour continues to a local Alentejo winery, where you can learn more about the region’s winemaking traditions. During the visit you will typically see the cellars, learn about grape varieties and enjoy a tasting of selected wines (exact program may vary depending on the estate and day of the week).

After a relaxed day in the countryside, you are driven back comfortably to your accommodation in Lisbon.
