Full Description

The day begins with pickup at your accommodation in Lisbon and a drive north to Fátima. Here you will have time to visit the sanctuary, including the Chapel of the Apparitions and the Basilica, to pray, attend Mass or simply appreciate the atmosphere of this important pilgrimage site.

We then continue to the town of Batalha, home to the Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória, built to commemorate the Portuguese victory in the Battle of Aljubarrota in 1385. Its intricate Gothic and Manueline details make it one of the most remarkable monuments in Portugal (entrance optional).

The tour then heads towards the Atlantic Ocean and the coastal town of Nazaré. Traditionally a fishing village, Nazaré became famous worldwide for its giant waves at Praia do Norte. You will have time to explore the viewpoint area, enjoy the sea views and, depending on the season, observe the powerful Atlantic swell.

In the afternoon we visit the enchanting medieval town of Óbidos, surrounded by walls and cobbled streets. You can stroll through the narrow lanes lined with whitewashed houses and colourful flowers, taste the local cherry liqueur Ginjinha de Óbidos and, if you wish, walk along parts of the castle walls for a panoramic view.

After this full but balanced day of history, faith, sea and medieval charm, your driver will take you back to Lisbon in comfort.
